Try out this frozen yoghurt bark with berries recipe! A very healthy and visually pleasing dessert.
The best thing about this frozen yoghurt bark with berries recipe is the ingredient list – it is very simple! Get yourself some greek yoghurt, fruit, vanilla essence, lime, a pinch of salt and maple syrup and you are ready to go. As you can tell, this recipe is low in calories. The caloric value differs depending on the calories of the yoghurt chosen and the fruit chosen.
We chose to go for 2% fat greek yoghurt but you are free to use 0% or 10%. You can even opt out of using maple syrup if you wish. Each serving of this frozen yoghurt bark recipe is around 80 calories. Most of the fun with this dessert is how beautiful it looks. The secret is to choose beautifully coloured fruit which contrasts well with the white yoghurt. For our recipe we chose Asiago frozen strawberries and blueberries from Whatsinstore.
You are free to use fresh fruit or frozen fruit with this recipe. It makes almost no difference to the final result since the final mixture will be going to the freezer anyway. You will have to be a bit patient with this recipe though, since it takes a while to set.
I usually recommend that you let this recipe sit in the freezer overnight so as not to remove from the freezer before it has perfectly set. Trying to break up the yoghurt bark into pieces before it has fully set, can be quite disastrous! So whilst actual preparation of this dessert only takes 10 minutes, you must leave it for a good couple of hours to set.
You might be wondering who this dessert is for. This is great for anyone with a sweet tooth looking for a low calorie, low sugar dessert. This Frozen Yoghurt Bark dessert would also be great for children. Most people really enjoy frozen yoghurt and this is a different way to enjoy just that.
The fruit offers an excellent natural sweetness to each serving without needing additional sugar. For this recipe we chose to include blueberries and strawberries. We believe that they look great against the white yoghurt. For an extra touch, we added some roasted oats. Instead of roasted oats, feel free to use crushed nuts or chocolate shavings.
Now that we know who this frozen yoghurt bark recipe is for, it is important to make a note of who this dessert is not for. Although this dessert is gluten free and vegetarian, it is neither lactose free, nor vegan, as it contains greek yoghurt.
We really suggest you consume this dessert immediately after removing it from the freezer. As one can suspect, removing these from the freezer will slowly cause them to melt back. It is vital that you enjoy the taste of frozen yoghurt to enjoy a piece or two.
